Description:
Jackson came to MARS after surviving a run in with a moving vehicle. At first the vet wasn’t sure he’d survive, but after about 24 hours, he was alert, wagging his tail and winning the hearts of everyone he met. After numerous unsuccessful attempts at locating his family he moved into his foster home and impressed everyone with his affectionate nature and outgoing personality. He is confident, happy and resilient. He gets along with dogs of all sizes. He loves cats. In fact, he thinks they are so much fun to chase and bark at, cats hate him, so if you have cats, you’ll probably want to do them a favor and move on by. He also lives up to the notion that his job is to protect his family from harm and will alert everyone when he feels there’s a threat. He is learning, however, that his people can take care of themselves and he’s working on learning the meaning of “Quiet”. He’s nearly house trained and will respond if you ask him if he needs to go outside… and he’s super brave about going out even when it’s cold and snowy. He likes to sleep in bed with his people but will also sleep quietly in a crate as long as he’s in the same room. He’s not crazy about being left alone but he thinks it’s easier if there’s another dog to keep him company. Like most companion dogs, he loves to be close to his family and while he enjoys lap time, he’s content to just be nearby. He really hopes you like kisses. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
