7/7/14 UPDATE-

My sweet Uma is ready for her own family. She's good with other non-aggressive dogs and cats...older, respectful kids would be a fit too. She has become such a snuggler. I never would have guessed she'd be a lap dog or that she would squeak and dance with excitement when I got home. She is house trained with assistance from indoor potty pads at night and a kennel for times we are not home. Uma has become a soccer sideline celebrity and accepts hello pats from both men and women. She has never been aggressive but will retreat when uncomfortable.

She loves her walks!! She is a sniffing machine! You can tell how proud she is of her progress when she walks. Her strut owns the sidewalk.

There are no better kisses than Uma kisses.

If you can keep her in mind through out your interactions and suggest her to good people you meet that are considering a dog, I would appreciate it. She will be the belle of the ball for some very lucky person.

UPDATE from her foster home- Uma is a spunky member of her foster pack. She spends her days wrestling with her doggie foster brother and sister, keeping her eyes on her humans from the top of the stairs. She enjoys relaxing in her kennel. She used to hide in her kennel but that has changed over time as she has become more confident. She sleeps with her foster mom every night and loves to be pet int he morning. This is her biggest and most important human bonding time. When her foster mom goes to work she kennels easily. Uma is learning to walk on a leash. She will potty outside but does use potty pads to potty on too. She is a very fast learner. She needs to be allowed to give love on her terms for now, but the good news is those times are becoming more and more frequent. She should go to a home with atleast one other dog. She is great with cats and loves her human kids in her foster home. She is more confident with kids than adults. Whoever adopts Uma will be lucky. She has never shown once bit of aggression. Watching her wag her tail in excitement is pure joy.

Uma is a 1 1/2 year old min pin/chihuahua mix who came into rescue with her mom. She weighs about 14 lbs and is a very timid girl. She was born outside and was finally caught and has not had much contact with people. She is not aggressive but she is scared. She needs a foster home or adoptive home who can teach her that people are safe and help her learn to be a dog. Could you be the one to help this little girl??

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
