Description:
Meet Ulmer - 8 months old, ears cropped and tail docked.
Ulmer is a young min-pin finding his way in this new big world he has discovered. You see, for his first few months, life was what he saw and experienced from within a cage. One day, he went to acution and lucky for him was purchased by a good samaritain who surrendered him immediatley to MARS. Since then, he has been trying to learn about life and love and trust.
Ulmer is a wonderful little guy on the smaller side for a min-pin - I'm thinking he has probably reached his maximum physical size - and at about 11 pounds, it is just perfect! Inside, he is a big dog and a baby dog all together. He is comfortable with all 4-legged creatures he has met - dogs and cats anyway (even crawling babies!). He currently lives with 2 Boxers, 3 cats - he knows his place in the pack and is fine there. He is very interested in the cats but they are bigger than him so he doesn't push things too far - he just wants to play! And boy does he play with the Boxers! Big dogs, small dogs - he doesn't care - he just wants friends!
Potty training was a bit of a struggle but he is 99% there - he loves to go outside, and will gladly help put his sweater on, but there is just so much to see and smell he forgets why he is out there so frequent trips are necesasry and LOTS of praise for a job well done!
Ulmer so wants to be loved and craves human contact - but he learned that not all humans are nice so he has to build up trust before he is comfortable. He can be shy and prefers to meet you on his terms - he will crawl on my lap and snuggle with me one minute and the next if I try to reach for him, he will flee. It is very sad but he has come a long way in the time I have had him. I think a home with dog/s would best but if given enough attention, he will thrive any where. He loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep curled up against a human body, under the covers - he truly is a super sweet, very special pup When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
