Kona is currently being fostered and is looking for her forever home.  While Kona is a little lovebug, it's clear she didn't get as much socialization as is ideal when she was a puppy. She is shy and cautious of new people and uncomfortable in unfamiliar places but tends to warm up rather quickly.

She loves to run, exercise and get her “zoomies” in multiple times a day!  Sudden loud noises still startle her, so she’ll likely sit down until you come to comfort her, or she’ll run to hide if it’s too overwhelming. For these reasons, a fenced in area for her to run and get her exercise in is strongly suggested

She is curious about other dogs and is completely fine with cats but if they are overly aggressive she will feel unsafe and want to run and hide.  She does well with children and is learning to play gentle, but her excitement can turn to rough play and she’ll lunge, jump and nip.  Supervision would be required until she learns all of her manners.

Kona has done extremely well with house training and becomes quite insistent with pawing, sneezing etc. to let you know when she has to go out.  Crate training is very slow and in progress. She reacts to a kennel as a punishment / bad place, with shaking, whining, hiding and avoidance but she will sleep very well in a large comfy dog bed, through the night and during her nap times.

Kona has a lot of potential and a lot of love to give to her new person. She is eager to please and has already learned so much. She will be very loyal and protective and needs a home that will continue to be patient and provide a lot of reassurance that she is safe while she builds her confidence.
