Description:
Jackson is a playful and intelligent boy. He knows sit, come, paw/shake, no, and we’re working on stay and lay down. He is a 1-2 year old, about 60 lbs, Shiba Inu Shepherd mix that, true to shiba nature, won’t even bark at squirrels or the mailman. He is a talker though! He loves to play fetch or chew on bones, he will chew on shoes or slippers if he gets bored and can’t find his bone or a stick (he will stop if told “no”). He walks great on a leash, doesn’t bark at other dogs, and isn’t much of a puller. He will happily greet you at the door with his brand of words when you come home and will continue to talk to you until he gets pets or playtime. He goes happily into his crate at night and will stay there all night. He does fantastically well with the small nieces and nephews in our family and he plays well with our resident dog. He is competitive with our resident dog, due to them both being males and competing for alpha, and would likely do well either being the only dog or living with a female dog. We don’t own any cats and therefore don’t know how he would behave around them, but he has a decently high prey drive so I wouldn’t recommend living with cats or other small animals. Jackson would make a wonderful family dog that will give you even more love than you can give him. Apply and meet this sweet boy to see if he’s a match!
URGENT: needs a temporary foster home, while we work to find a forever home. We cover all authorized medical expenses.
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
