Description:

Meet Sable!

Sable is a beautiful purebred Chocolate Lab who is looking for a loving and active FOREVER home.

Sable was originally given to a person who said she wanted a dog. This person should never have taken her in, they clearly had no interest in having a dog. She was kept outside all the time. It also appears that she had been hit and/or handled roughly in her recent past but she shows no fear or aggression. She truly is a sweet dog who deserves a better life than she had. This is why MARS has taken her in and is looking to find her the home she needs.

Sable needs some training and some good socialization to learn what it means to live inside a house and be a house companion. Potty training is coming along nicely. She is extremely exuberant, LOVES other dogs, and wants very badly to bond to a person. She needs an active household who can get her lots of exercise and help her get her wiggles out.

A NOTE FROM SABLE'S EMERGENCY FOSTER MOM:

She is a wonderful dog- silly and fun and full of energy. She knows come and sit-
She loves playing soccer and pouncing in the snow and throwing it up in the air to try and catch it. She also likes laying in the snow. She is a pretty chocolate color. More the English lab than American Lab- She is blocky and low and has the blockier head.

She had never been in a crate before (owner told me)- has adapted beautifully to it ~ runs in to be fed or for a treat.
When told to be quiet, she does.

Does very well on a leash and flexi lead.

Smart- just need more exercise and a bigger house than I have. I currently have 3 big dogs and a blind cocker - and the "inn" is overflowing.

URGENT: Sable needs a temporary foster home, while we work to find a forever home. We provide the food and cover all authorized medical expenses.

You simply provide a safe, loving home!

Why not take this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a sweet pup who needs some help?

Contact us to find out how easy it is to get involved in foster care.

Please feel free to fill out an Adoption or Foster application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features.

NOTE: Sable is from AKC lines, and she can be registered with the AKC if someone is willing to pay the filing fees. Her pedigree is available, and appears solid (for those interested in this).

Thank You!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
